Available in two versions by composition: Vacuum-extruded fiberglass, or laminated graphite. The Ram Rods are multi-sectioned units that can extend to 6 feet. A set, composed of two tubes, parallel the spine in unique pockets on the Retriever. The Ram Rods provide significant spinal stabilization without the use of a spineboard, and are thus more convenient to use in all rescue situations. The Ram Rods are designed to deflect no more than a quality spine board and saves valuable time in the "Golden Hour" by not having to secure the patient to the spine board prior to evacuation. Unlike spine boards that do not bend, the Ram Rods come in sections and may be used partially extended to accommodate twists and turns in confined spaces by allowing flexing of the hip and/or knees.
